1. POSITION PURPOSE
The Chief Accountant ensures the organization, maintenance, and control of accounting, tax, and management accounting of the defense enterprise in accordance with the legislation of Ukraine and the specific requirements of the defense sector.
The position is responsible for the accuracy of financial information, maintaining transparency and control over financial processes, as well as compliance with state regulations, export control, and confidentiality requirements.
Functionally reports to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
2. KEY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
2.1. Organization and Maintenance of Accounting
- Ensuring complete, timely, and accurate recording of all business transactions. Digitalization of financial processes.
- Control over accounting of production costs, inventories, fixed assets, intangible assets, payroll, settlements, and taxes.
- Preparation of financial, statistical, tax, and special reporting.
2.2. Tax Accounting and Interaction with Government Authorities
- Organization of tax planning.
- Control of timely and accurate tax payments.
- Preparation of documentation and representation of the enterprise during audits and inspections.
- Ensuring compliance with defense legislation and regulatory requirements.
2.3. Management Reporting and Support of the CFO
- Preparation of management reports for the CFO.
- Participation in budgeting and forecasting.
- Analysis of assigned financial indicators, particularly tax burden.
2.4. Interaction with Departments and Auditors
- Cooperation with production, logistics, R&D, and other departments for accurate financial reflection of operations.
- Interaction with auditors, banks, and regulatory authorities.
2.5. Control of Internal Processes and Risks
- Ensuring proper document management
- Control of cash flows jointly with the CFO.
- Participation in internal control systems and financial risk mitigation.
- Compliance with confidentiality, export control, and information security requirements.
3. AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY
- Accuracy of accounting and tax records.
- Completeness and correctness of financial reports.
- Compliance with tax discipline and defense legislation requirements.
- Protection of information and data confidentiality.
- Quality of the accounting department’s work.
4. CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
Education
- Full higher education in Accounting, Finance, or Economics.
- Additional certification preferred (CAP/CIPA/ACCA).
Experience
- 5–7 years of accounting experience, including at least 3 years as Chief Accountant or Deputy Chief
- Accountant in a company with over 1,000 employees and an accounting team of at least 20 staff.
- Mandatory experience in a manufacturing enterprise.
- Experience in the defense sector is an advantage.
- References from previous employers are preferred.
Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge of Ukrainian tax and accounting legislation.
- Experience in managing an accounting team.
- Understanding of defense contracts, export control, and confidentiality requirements.
- Proficiency in 1C/ERP/accounting systems and advanced Excel skills.
INTERACTIONS AND REPORTING LINES
- Direct reporting line: Chief Financial Officer.
- Subordinates: accounting department teams.
- Active interaction with: production, warehouse, legal department, security service, procurement department.
